David is an experienced civil society leader, committed to collaborative action and finding creative solutions for social change. Over 30 years’ operating as a creative strategic leader with a wide range of management and influencing skills, including 18 years’ experience as chief executive and four years as a senior consultant in civil society, working with funders, investors, front-line organisations and communities.
Starting as a front-line support worker working with the homeless in London through to running a multi-million pound national charity, over his career David has demonstrated effective creative leadership, management and influencing skills and built strong networks based on personal integrity.
David is focused on mission, partnership, collaboration and systems change, with a mind that enquires into root causes, an open and entrepreneurial attitude, a track-record of enabling leadership and above all a drive to get things done.
As a network weaver, David has extensive experience of bringing together and creating alliances of usual and unusual suspects to create change and make action happen. Through investing heavily in network and relationship building, the resulting alliances have profound impact and outcomes.
Life's for living, and in August 2017 David relocated (after 54 years) from London to Scarborough in North Yorkshire. When not working he enjoys walking the dogs on the beach and the moors, reading, cricket, art, jazz (and other music), eating, cooking & helping make a difference in his local community.
From his base in North Yorkshire David is now developing a portfolio of voluntary activities alongside paid consultancy.
